6 Songs To Listen To When You Need A Friend

In light of my latest post, How God Met Me in My Loneliness, a lot of you commented telling me you can relate. As a way to help, I compiled a few songs to encourage you when you're experiencing a lonely season in life. Jesus is there. He is your Friend. Always remember that. 

So, put on your earphones, close your eyes, and listen to this musical gems God has blessed us with.

1. What a Friend We Have in Jesus by Chelsea Moon and the Franz Brothers

This is a classic hymn filled with words of love. If you haven't heard about the writer's story, please click here. It will make the song much more meaningful. 

Can we find a friend so faithful

  Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness,

  Take it to the Lord in prayer.

2. As the Deer

During my elementary days, this was the go-to song when a class was requested to sing on the spot. I was always amazed by these verses:

You're my friend and You are my brother

Even though you are a King

I love You more than any other

So much more than anything.

As a child, I found joy in knowing Jesus was my friend.

3.  Sparrow by Audrey Assad

This is a graceful rendition of the classic song. I am not alone because God is watching over me. I can smile and sing because He loves me and that makes me happy. My constant friendship with Him makes me worry-free.

Why should I be lonely,
Long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
And a constant Friend I know

4.  By Your Side by Tenth Avenue North

A beautiful reminder that we don't have to search and look for love from others. Jesus is by our side, listening, walking with us through it all and He is more than willing to love us.

Why are you still searching as if I'm not enough?
To where will you go child?
Tell me where will you run, to where will you run?

5. More Than You Think I Am by Danny Gokey

 If you need a deeper perspective of God, please listen to this song. It's like the world has painted Him to be an angry and condemning god. But God is love. He wants to love us and be friends with us. He died not to condemn us, but to give us eternal life. 

Rumor has it there's a gavel in my hand
I'm only here to condemn
But let me tell you secrets you have never known
I think of you as my best friend

6.  I Will by Citizen Way

We often long for someone to be there for us. Someone who would be willing to hold us when we can't take the storm raging inside our souls. Jesus is more than willing to do that.

Like a father and a friend

And I will carry you through darkness

Till we see the sun again

So rest your head and cry your tears

Know that I am with you here
